Passing Cloud Hauls Out Before Summer

Passing Cloud Hauls Out Before Summer

What a start to the season we have had! We have officially wrapped up our season in Pacific Rim National Park, and are currently home in Victoria, working on our annual haul out (pulling the ship out of the water for maintenance and inspections) before heading north for the rest of the summer.

As we work away in the shipyard, we are thrilled about getting back on the water and setting sail on the the next leg of our seasonal adventures!

We had a wonderful season in Pacific Rim National Park, starting and ending in Ucluelet and spending most of our time in the Broken Group Islands, but also making our way over to the the Deer Group Islands and Bamfield. In all cases we enjoyed great weather, great sailing, and some fabulous seafood (thanks Chef Devon!).

Our second annual Pacific Rim Photo Tour was a great success. Joined by six guests and photo guide James Thompson we travelled though Barkley Sound searching for perfect photo ops, and taking lots of time to hone our skills. To see a sample of our guest’s photos make sure to check out our Flickr or G+ pages, including tide pools, rainforests, white-sand beaches, bears, birds, seascapes, and even aerial images from a drone! Stay tuned for our 2016 Photo Tour dates!

In early May we operated our first “Ancient Civilizations and West Coast Wilderness” expedition, featuring our esteemed friend and vastly knowledgeable archaeologist, Denis St. Claire. While exploring the remote islands of Barkley Sound, Denis offered unparalleled insight into the pre-history of Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations of this region. Thanks to Denis, our guests and crew we able to see and experience this place through an entirely different lens. We are already planning our adventures with Denis in 2016, we hope you’ll join us!

2015 Shipyard Update
Ship Yard
Schooner Passing Cloud is currently hauled out and getting a new paint and varnish before before we depart for our summer season. Our main focus this year has been removing decades of old paint, and starting fresh. A huge thanks to all the Outer Shores Crew, particularly Joel and Liam, for all their hard work and enthusiasm throughout this huge undertaking!
