Terms and Conditions of Payment
Thank you for taking the time review our Terms and Conditions of Payment and Participation. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Our prices are based on double occupancy, quoted in Canadian dollars, and subject to a Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 5%. All payments must be made in Canadian dollars, by cheque or credit card. All prices are subject to change without notice.
After contacting our office by phone or email, you will receive our Expedition Application Form. Once you complete this form and provide your deposit, your reservation will be secured. You will receive a confirmation letter and a pre-departure package with all the information needed to prepare you for your expedition with us.
At time of reservation: $1,000 CAD/person
120 days prior to departure: Balance
Cancellation >120 days prior to departure: Payment refundable less cancellation fee.
Cancellation <120 days prior to departure: Payment NON-REFUNDABLE (unless replacement found, see below).
Cancellation fee: $100 CAD/person
In case of a medical problem arising during the trip, either on board or on shore, which results in costs for evacuation, use of aircraft, the responsibility for payment of these costs belongs solely to the Passenger.
In the event the Passenger leaves the Trip before its completion for any reason, no portion of the Fare is refundable and the Passenger will be responsible for all costs associated with their departure, from whatever location. The Passenger acknowledges that it may be necessary for other Passengers to depart early for illness or injury reasons, and that Outer Shores will not be held responsible for these necessary changes in plans.
The date of cancellation is the date Outer Shores receives your written notice of cancellation. Depending on your reason for cancellation, these charges may be recovered under your insurance policy.
If you cancel fewer than 120 days prior to the trip, then only if Outer Shores succeeds in filling your space on the trip and in so doing you are replaced with another Passenger that is in all respects as advantageous to Outer Shores as the cancelling Passenger, shall the Deposit and Fare be repaid.
If Outer Shores is able to arrange another Passenger but only on terms that are not in all respects as advantageous to Outer Shores as the terms of this agreement, the Deposit and Fare will be repaid to the Passenger, with deductions to account for the loss to Outer Shores.
If the Passenger needs to cancel their trip within 120 days of the departure date, the fare can be transferred to another person, or onto another trip. We highly recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance, which must be purchased through a travel agency at the time of booking.
Due to the very limited number of cabins on board our ship, we require that travellers who specifically request single accommodation pay a single supplement at the rate of 150% of the double-occupancy rate. If you are travelling alone and are willing to share a cabin with another single traveller of the same gender, we will do our best to match you with a cabin mate.
You are welcome to transfer your reservation to another expedition in the same year, without penalty, up to 120 days prior to departure.
Outer Shores provide all operating expenses during the term of the expedition, and agrees that no further charges will be made once the Passenger has joined the ship. Operating expenses include, but are not limited to ground transportation, floatplane flights (Haida Gwaii only), National Parks fees, First Nation Conservation and Stewardship fees, Outer Shores’ Conservation Fee ($100/person), all on board meals, beverages, and accommodations, and any costs or donations undertaken during the course of the expedition. Expedition fees do not include transportation to/from expedition points of departure/return. Meals and accommodation prior to expedition start on Day 1, or following expedition completion on last day. Expedition fees do not include gratuities.
The Passenger acknowledges that the expedition may be altered or cancelled as a result of forces beyond the control of Outer Shores, and the Passenger agrees to release Outer Shores and waive any claim arising or resulting from these changes.
Because of the extensive planning required, our upfront costs, and limited ability to fill expedition spaces on short notice, your payment is non-refundable should you have to cancel your expedition less than 120 days prior to your departure date. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance that includes coverage for cancellation. Payment may be transferred to another person, or applied to another expedition in the same year if availability permits.
