Back by popular demand, we’ll kick off our 2020 season by returning to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve in April to experience the incredible biodiversity and cultural heritage found in this remote, yet accessible, wilderness region on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Our crew and guests who have visited Pacific Rim LOVE this region, and we’d like to show you why.
In early May, we’ll migrate north to the Great Bear Rainforest for our spring departures from the picturesque coastal mountain village of Bella Coola. From majestic coastal estuaries to outer coast islands, we’ll be on the lookout for grizzly bears emerging from hibernation, sea otters in kelp forests, and whales migrating to their summer feeding grounds.
Our next stop is the remote island archipelago of Haida Gwaii where we’ll spend June, July and most of August experiencing world-renowned Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area, and Haida Heritage Site. And for the truly adventurous among you, we’re thrilled to announce two ‘Explorer Series’ expeditions to the west side of Haida Gwaii – a first for Outer Shores and the Passing Cloud. We can’t wait!
In late August, the fall salmon migration will call us back to the Great Bear Rainforest just in time for this annual and awe-inspiring ecological event that attracts so many predators, from killer whales to grizzly bears. We’re excited to soon announce our new theme-based departures that will focus on the people and wildlife that have inhabited this expansive region for millennia.
From microflora to megafauna, each season in every region we explore provides a truly spectacular display of natural and cultural wonders, and we look forward to sharing all of it with you!
