Drew grew up on Saltspring Island and, like many of our Captains and Expedition Leaders, began messing about in boats from a very young age.  Drew’s early passion for the sea lead him to an extensive and varied career as a professional mariner – including working cargo vessels on the River Thames, sailing square-rigged tall ships around the world, running small passenger ferries in metro-Vancouver, and since 2015, he has shared his breadth of seafaring knowledge and experience with the small ship eco-tourism industry on the BC coast.

  In recent years, Drew has begun a career of teaching marine courses and in addition to his 150GT Master, 500GT Chief Mate, and many international maritime Certificates, he holds a full range of instructor qualifications.  When Drew isn’t sailing, teaching, or in pursuit of certificates, he enjoys adventures and spending time with wife and their son on Saltspring Island.

  Drew is a fabulous story teller and an excellent addition to any journey, especially the wildly beautiful explorations aboard Passing Cloud.
