Terms and Conditions of Payment

Thank you for taking the time review our Terms and Conditions of Payment and Participation. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Our prices are based on double occupancy, quoted in Canadian dollars, and subject to the Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 5%. All prices are subject to change without notice.

After contacting our office by phone or email, you will receive our Expedition Application form. Once you complete this form and provide a deposit of $1,500/person, your reservation will be secured. You will receive a confirmation letter and a pre-departure package with all the information needed to prepare you for your expedition with us.

Deposits: A deposit of $1,500/person is required to secure your booking.

Balances:

For Standard bookings (i.e. couples or single travellers), your balance will be due 120 days prior to your departure date.

For Private Voyage bookings (i.e. full vessel), your balance will be due 180 days prior to your departure date.

All payments must be made in Canadian dollars.

We accept payment via cheques, email transfers, international wire transfers, as well as credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

Due to the rising cost of credit card processing and the nature of small businesses, we request and greatly appreciate when payments are made via cheque, email transfers, or international wire transfers, thank you!

Regular Booking Cancellation >120 days prior to departure: Payment refundable less cancellation fee.

Regular Booking Cancellation <120 days prior to departure: Payment NON-REFUNDABLE (unless replacement found, see below).

Private Voyage (Full Vessell) Booking Cancellation >180 days prior to departure: Payment refundable less cancellation fee.

Private Voyage (Full Vessell) Booking Cancellation <180 days prior to departure: Payment NON-REFUNDABLE (unless replacement found, see below).

Cancellation fee: $500 CAD/person

In the case of a medical problem arising during the trip, either on board or on shore, which results in costs for evacuation, use of aircraft, the responsibility for payment of these costs belongs solely to the Passenger.

In the event the Passenger leaves the Trip before its completion for any reason, no portion of the Fare is refundable and the Passenger will be responsible for all costs associated with their departure, from whatever location. The Passenger acknowledges that it may be necessary for other Passengers to depart early for illness or injury reasons, and that Outer Shores will not be held responsible for these necessary changes in plans.

The date of cancellation is the date Outer Shores receives your written notice of cancellation. Depending on your reason for cancellation, these charges may be recovered under your insurance policy.

If you cancel fewer than 120 days prior to the trip, or 180 days for a private voyage booking, then only if Outer Shores succeeds in filling your space on the trip and in so doing you are replaced with another Passenger that is in all respects as advantageous to Outer Shores as the cancelling Passenger, shall the Deposit and Fare be repaid.

If Outer Shores is able to arrange another Passenger but only on terms that are not in all respects as advantageous to Outer Shores as the terms of this agreement, the Deposit and Fare will be repaid to the Passenger, with deductions to account for the loss to Outer Shores.

If the Passenger needs to cancel their trip within 120 days, or 180 days for a private charter, of the departure date, the fare can be transferred to another person, or onto another trip. We highly recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance, which must be purchased through a travel agency at the time of booking.

We would be happy to help you curate a private adventure with your closest friends and family aboard the Passing Cloud! All Private Voyage bookings are based on 6 guests and charged 6X our regular fare. Should your group be less than 6, or a member of your group cannot make the voyage, the price remains the same.

If you would like to hold a specific departure date to coordinate a group of 6 for a Private Voyage, we would be happy to hold the booking for 10 business days.

Final Payment is due 180-days prior to departure, at which point the deposit becomes non-refundable.

Due to the very limited number of cabins on board our ship, we require that travellers who specifically request single accommodation pay a single supplement at the rate of 2X of the double-occupancy rate. If you are travelling alone and are willing to share a cabin with another single traveller of the same gender, we will do our best to match you with a cabin mate, and keep you on a wait list until that match can be made.

You are welcome to transfer your reservation to another expedition in the same year, without penalty, based on availability up to 120 days for regular bookings and 180 days prior to departure for private voyage bookings.

Outer Shores provide all operating expenses during the term of the expedition, and agrees that no further charges will be made once the Passenger has joined the ship. Operating expenses include, but are not limited to ground transportation, floatplane flights (Haida Gwaii only), National Parks fees, First Nation Conservation and Stewardship fees, all on board meals, beverages, and accommodations, and any costs or donations undertaken during the course of the expedition. Expedition fees do not include transportation to/from expedition points of departure/return. Meals and accommodation prior to expedition start on Day 1, or following expedition completion on last day. Expedition fees do not include gratuities.

The Passenger acknowledges that the expedition may be altered or cancelled as a result of forces beyond the control of Outer Shores, and the Passenger agrees to release Outer Shores and waive any claim arising or resulting from these changes.

Because of the extensive planning required, our upfront costs, and limited ability to fill expedition spaces on short notice, your payment is non-refundable should you have to cancel your expedition less than 120 days prior to your departure date for regular bookings, or 180 days for Private Voyage bookings. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance that includes coverage for cancellation. Payment may be transferred to another person, or applied to another expedition in the same year if availability permits.

Beginning in 2021 all bookings will be subject to a $100 CAD/person sustainability fee.
