“The land knows you, even when you are lost.”

– Robin wall kimmerer

Growing up on the shores of Lake Huron, Emily has always been fascinated with nature and large bodies of water. This led her to study Environmental Sciences, graduating with a Restoration Ecology Diploma and a BSc in Environmental Sciences. Emily has spent the last decade working as an Environmental Technician, involved in various projects, all over the west coast and Northern Vancouver Island, the Southern Great Bear Rainforest, the Central Coast, Haida Gwaii, and Northern Alberta. The focus of  her work has been enumerating wild Pacific salmon, counting adult and juvenile salmon on their migration to and from their freshwater natal streams. Following the salmon has shown Emily the depth of the interconnectedness of the natural world, and has really opened her eyes to the excitement of the complexities and nuances of nature. It is these moments that she looks forward most to sharing with guests aboard Passing Cloud.
