Courtenay Kohlhauser

Culinary Team

“It’s around the table and in the preparation of food that we learn about ourselves and about the world.”

– Alice Waters

Courtenay is born and raised in the Okanagan and fortunate to call Penticton her home base. A caregiver by nature with a keen interest in the world of food, she started her professional culinary journey at Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver in 2011.

Since then she has followed the seasons, spending a majority of her time honing her skills at Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek, Joy Road Catering and Monashee Powder Snowcats. Traveling to experience different cultures and cuisines has been a large source of inspiration and influence in her career. A firm believer in food as medicine and the importance of knowing where and how your food came to be, she’s a keen supporter of the local market and farmers, with a developing side interest in hunting and foraging. Courtenay takes advantage of having a world-class wine region as her backyard, drinking up as much wine knowledge as she can. She was a recipient of a Les Dames D’Escoffier Scholarship and completed her WSET level two training in 2018.

Most at home in the outdoors, when not on Passing Cloud you will most likely find her hiking, camping, paddling or skiing.
