Outer Shores Expeditions gratefully acknowledges that our operations—from the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii to Vancouver Island and the Salish Sea—take place throughout the traditional and unceded territories of numerous First Nations including, but not limited to, the Haida, Gitga’at, Haisla, Kitasoo/Xai’xais, Heiltsuk, Nuxalk, Mamalilikulla, Namgis, Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw, Tlowitsis, K'omoks, We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, Da'naxda'xw/Awaetlatla, Tseshaht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ, Toquaht, Huu‑ay‑aht, and several Coast Salish Nations. Our home office and port are on the lands and waters of the Quw'utsun, Malahat, Ts'uubaa-asatx, Halalt, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, & Lyackson Peoples.

We recognize that these lands and waters have been stewarded by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial, and honour and respect the enduring relationships Indigenous peoples maintain to these territories. We are committed to sharing knowledge, building meaningful relationships, and supporting cultural interpretation, and promoting Indigenous-led conservation initiatives. We have formalized these commitments through protocol agreements with the Gitga’at, Kitasoo-Xai’xais, and Heiltsuk Nations and with the Haida through the Archipelago Management Board,  and will continue to work towards formalizing these commitments with other Nations in future.

As a sustainable expedition operator, we commit to ongoing learning, humility, and reciprocity. We strive to support Indigenous sovereignty, cultural resurgence, and environmental stewardship.
