“The ocean is a world of perpetual motion and sound, a world where nothing stands still.”

– Rachel Carson, Marine Biologist & Writer

Maurice is a naturalist, researcher, and traveller. He was born and raised in Germany but having spent every summer by the French west coast, he developed a deep appreciation for the ocean and soon moved to the English coast to complete his degree in Animal Behaviour. Following he moved to New Zealand for his master’s degree, then Portugal, travelled to various places in Africa and South America, before eventually settling in beautiful British Columbia.

After university he joined the WWF as an educator which inspired him to found his own marine education project. Maurice also joined large governmental bodies to research various bird species, and small NGOs focussing on the protection of whales and other marine life and is currently documenting some of this research in scientific publications. During his time in research he also helped shoot the BBC David Attenborough documentary “Mammals”, as a co-scientific advisor. Combining his fascination for the ocean and education with his passion to travel, he started working as a whale watching guide around the coast of British Columbia connecting with people from all around the world.

Outside work Maurice loves to spend his time surfing, sailing, stand-up paddling, diving, or cold plunging, it is hard to not find him by or in the ocean. However, if not submerged in water he will likely be following his other main interest – music – and will be playing his guitar or any other instrument he can find.
