Expedition Team

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

– John Ruskin

Sam grew up in the prairies and mountains of Alberta until after high school when driven by her love of travel and adventure, she ventured off to sail the Atlantic Ocean on a tall ship. From there she completed her BSc in Biology at the University of Victoria, with a focus on Marine Biology. Since graduation, she has worked with the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre and as a marine and wilderness guide at various eco-tourism resorts in and around Tofino and the Desolation Sound. She is a certified kayak guide, bear guide, and small vessel skipper.

Sam is passionate about educating the public about local wildlife, and the importance of conservation. In her spare time, she can be found surfing, exploring and camping in remote locations around the Pacific Rim National Park.
